DLCA Notifies Public About Decline in Wholesale Gas Prices
The Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs (DLCA) notifies the public about a steady decline in gas prices reported from Gulf Oil Corp. at Limetree Bay. This decline has been happening for two weeks and should positively affect Virgin Islands residents.
This Thursday DLCA will publish the Gas Survey conducted weekly in order to bring attention to retailers that share cost saving with consumers.
“DLCA has ordered that all essential food and gas retailers submit prices directly. Consumers deserve to know the factors that affect prices, especially the wholesale price. This is how we are able to determine reasonable pricing. In addition to finding what is reasonable; the department would like for consumers to see what is conscionable. Businesses that charge without a conscious will price items at the rate they see fit, rather than what is fair. Consumers should avoid these players,” said Commissioner Carrington.
DLCA reminds the public to report issues with gas pumps, meters and commercial scales to Consumer Affairs Director Miguel Tricoche, who will forward the issues to the Weights and Measures Unit at DLCA.

Is that the price at the pump for the public?
Are you kidding? The answer is no. IMO That is the wholesale price the gas station FOB termina. In other words there is freight costs added and of course the VI tax of $.14 / gallon added on.
Sorry for the miss -types
In my opinioin these posted prices are FOB terminal – wholesale.
Add on freight — probably $.08/gallon (could be more or less)
Add on VI tax of $.14/gallon
Gas station markup on top of all this.
