Man Dies of Wounds in Estate Plessen Shooting

A man injured Tuesday evening after a shooting in Estate Plessen succumbed to his wounds Wednesday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Police said the victim was 29-year-old Raymond Richards. He was identified by next of kin.

According to police, at 7:49 p.m. Tuesday the 911 center received a call requesting emergency assistance for a shooting victim in the rear of the Consumer Gas Station Estate Plessen, Frederiksted. Responding officers found a a black male individual with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was lying in the rear of the service station on the ground.

Richards was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital by ambulance and was immediately taken into surgery and remained in critical condition as of Wednesday morning. He died of the gunshot wounds, police said.

Police asked anyone with information on the incident to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at-340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477. Tips to Crime Stoppers that result in the resolution of a crime can qualify the caller to an anonymous tip service.
