Grove Place Shooting Leaves One Dead

A shooting Saturday evening in the Estate Grove Place ball park area left 33-year-old Daniel D. Peters dead, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Peters was identified by his next of kin.

According to the police, at about 7:23 p.m. Oct. 20, the 911 emergency call center received a report of multiple shots fired from the area. Officers responded and discovered an unresponsive black male lying face down in an alley between the Grove Place ball park and a residence. The man, later identified as Peters, had multiple gunshot wounds to the lower part of his body.

EMS and ambulance transported Peters to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he died of injuries sustained from the gunshots wounds and was pronounced dead by the attending medical physician.

The VIPD Criminal Investigation Bureau asked anyone with information to contact CIB at 340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477. Tips to Crime Stoppers that result in the case being resolved can qualify the tipster for an anonymous cash reward.
