Woman Shot During Attempted Robbery on STT

A woman was shot Monday evening during an attempted robbery on St. Thomas, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The police did not identify the victim, as per department policy on naming victims of non-fatal injuries. The police report also did not give the location of the shooting or any other informaton.

At 10: 14 p.m. Monday the 911 dispatcher received a call from a man saying that a female acquaintance had been shot in the nose. The caller told the dispatcher that someone had tried to rob him, and that the female victim was shot.

The female was brought to the emergency room by private vehicle.

According to police, the woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and damage to her face. She was treated for her injuries and admitted to Schneider Regional Medical Center for follow up.

The case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the bureau at 340-774-2211, or to call directly to 340-714-9805. Those with information also can call the 911 dispatch center or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477
