Body Found Near Hull Bay Beach Is Male, Police Waiting on DNA Test

Police have no identification yet for a partially decomposed body recovered Sept. 23 from Inner Brass Island, although they did confirm Tuesday the deceased was male.

A citizen reported encountering the body Sept. 23 on Inner Brass Island, near Hull Bay Beach, St. Thomas.

Units from the Richard N. Callwood Command, the Virgin Islands Port Authority and the Criminal Investigation Bureau traveled to Inner Brass Island via boat. There they retrieved a decomposed body and transported it to the morgue at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.Initially, not even gender was known. Now police know the deceased was male, according to V.I. Police Department spokesperson Glen Dratte.

“We don’t know ethnicity or anything else as yet further testing is being done to include DNA,” Dratte said Tuesday.
