Police Find Shooting Victim in Mutual Homes Apartment

Police on Thursday discovered the body of a man who had been shot to death. The body was found in the living room of the man’s apartment.

The victim was identified by next of kin as 29-year-old Akuojo J. Jackman.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at 10:44 a.m. a citizen came into the Francis Command Police Station in Frederiksted to make a missing person report. Officers then made a welfare check at the victim’s apartment at Mutual Homes Apartment Grove Place, where they discovered an unresponsive black male lying on the apartment’s living room floor.

The victim appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body. EMS and medical attendants checked for vital signs, with negative results.

Jackman’s vehicle, a blue Mazda 3, was missing from the parking lot of the victim’s apartment building.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau asked anyone with information about the case to call the CIB TipLine at 469-475-3871, the VIPD at 340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
