The V.I. Police Department on Monday arrested a suspect in the Saturday homicide at the Hospital Ground area in Charlotte Amalie.
Aubrey Frett, 29, was arrested at 10:45 a.m. Monday pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the Magistrate Court of the United States Virgin Islands. He was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Bail was set at $200,000. Frett was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections Detention Center.
Frett is charged in the Saturday shooting death of Jerome Turnbull, 44.
According to police, at 5:17 p.m. Saturday, 911 received a call of shots fired in the Hospital Ground area. Units from the Richard N. Callwood Command along with units from the Criminal Investigation Bureau traveled to the scene and found an unresponsive black male, later identified by next of kin as Turnbull, lying on the side of the road. He appeared to have sustained multiple gunshots wounds to the body.
Emergency medical technicians on the scene determined that the male did not have any vital signs.
