VIPD Firearms Bureau to Close for One Month for System Update

Effective 8:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 13, and continuing through 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, the Virgin Islands Police Department Firearms Bureau will be closed in both districts.

The purpose for the closing will be necessary for updating the system, according to a press release issued Thursday by the VIPD.

Exceptions: all firearm transactions such as new and unregistered firearms entering the islands or for safekeeping firearms departing the territory.

Hours of operations for both districts will resume at 8:30 a.m., Monday Sept. 17. New hours of operations for the St. Thomas-St. John-Water Island District will be 8:30a.m., to 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

  1. One month to upgrade computers. One two days at the most. Then a day of training. WOW. Even if they have to run new cables that sounds extremely long.
