Local Professionals Earn Nationally Recognized Certifications in Healthcare

Laura Forbes and Jacintha Stephen, both employees at the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center on St Croix, recently received certifications from nationally recognized healthcare improvement organizations.

Laura Forbes The Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety (CBPPS) recently recognized Laura Forbes, RPh, CPM, CPPS, PRS of Christiansted as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).

Forbes earned this credential in part by passing a rigorous, evidence-based examination that tests candidates on their competency in patient safety science and application. She is currently employed as chief pharmacist at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center.

With the conferring of certification, Forbes is privileged to use the CPPS credential.

Jacintha Stephen Jacintha Stephen, MSN/HCA, RN, has passed the CJCP ® examination and is now a Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP ®). The CJCP exam is three hours long and is based on The Joint Commission’s standards and survey process.

She is currently employed as a performance improvement specialist at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center.

By passing the exam, Jacintha proved a solid understanding and proven expertise on the Joint Commission’s accreditation process and standards, including areas such as Medical Staff, Environment of Care, Leadership Skills, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (including National Patient Safety Goals ®).
