A man was in stable but guarded condition Friday at the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital after suffering a gunshot wound Thursday night in Christiansted, according to the V.I. Police Department.
The VIPD did not release the name of the victim in keeping with department policy.
According to police at 9:21 p.m. Thursday a male gunshot wound victim was dropped off by private vehicle to the hospital. The victim had sustained gunshot wounds to the mid-section of the body.
At the hospital, the victim told officers had been at the Bienvenido mini mart in Christiansted when someone tried to rob him. During the ensuing incident the man was shot. Someone gave him a ride to the hospital.
Police did not report any suspects as of Friday afternoon.
