The Virgin Islands Good Food Coalition, Inc. and the Caribbean Centers for Boys and Girls Virgin Islands have teamed up to host Pop Up for Change at Cibone restaurant on Saturday, May 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Pop Up for Change is a six course dinner experience that highlights locally sourced, culturally relevant cuisine prepared with love by V.I. chef Digby Stridiron. Tickets for the event are $100 and reservations are required.
“When we pitched the idea of Pop Up for Change to Chef Digby he didn’t hesitate. He said anything for the kids, anything for my home,” said Sommer Sibilly-Brown, founder and executive director of Virgin Islands Good Food Coalition, Inc.
“This opportunity aligns perfectly with the dream that founded VIGFC, the dream that youth could drive change,” Sibilly-Brown continued. “At VIGFC our focus is food. We advocate for security, sovereignty and sustainability, but it’s really a social justice issue and this opportunity empowers our youth to be part of the conversation and solution.”
She said partnering with the Caribbean Centers for Boys and Girls Virgin Islands was a natural next step.
Emmanuella Perez-Cassius, unit director for Caribbean Centers for Boys and Girls Virgin Islands said, “The power is in the partnership. Two non-profits, collaborating to support youth, and create change is powerful. However, more powerful is showing the next generation what working together for the greater good looks like. I am really excited to see how our village shows up to support them.”
