WAPA Implements New Messaging System; Customers Urged to Sign Up for WAPA ALERTS

Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) will soon begin utilizing a new mass messaging system; it encourages all customers to sign up today for updates from the authority.

The new system, called WAPA Alerts, which replaces the WAPA portal on the V.I. Alert platform, is supported by Everbridge, a world-wide leader in mass messaging and telecommunications, according to a press release issued Friday by WAPA.

“V.I. Alert will soon cease to exist in the Virgin Islands, and for WAPA, it became necessary to identify a new system by which we can keep our customers abreast of all WAPA-related events. WAPA Alerts will provide updated information on service interruptions and restoration, road closures due to work by the utility, and, in essence, all things WAPA. We have been testing the system for some time and now invite the community to sign up today,” said Executive Director / CEO Lawrence J. Kupfer.

Once the sign-up process is complete, customers can download the Everbridge app on their iPhones or Android devices to receive WAPA Alerts directly through the app.

Visit the WAPA website www.viwapa.vi, click on Sign Up Today for WAPA Alerts, and stay connected. Customers will also be able to sign up for WAPA Alerts on Facebook at: Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority.
