UVI to Award Over 300 Degrees at 2018 Commencement Ceremonies

University of the Virgin Islands

At the University of the Virgin Islands 54th Commencement on the St. Thomas and Albert A. Sheen campuses, the university will confer over 300 degrees to students.

The ceremony will take place on the St. Thomas Campus on May 17, in the Sports and Fitness Center and on the grounds of the Albert A. Sheen Campus, St. Croix, on May 18. Both campuses will hold their ceremonies at 1:30 p.m.

The keynote address will be delivered by acclaimed actor, producer, political activist and humanitarian Danny Glover, who will receive an honorary degree from the university.

Local radio personalities, Athneil “Addie” Ottley of WSTA Radio and former Senator Holland I. Redfield are slated to receive Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Humane Letters.

This year’s class speaker on the Sheen Campus will be Jaecena Howell; the speaker on St. Thomas Campus will be Che-Raina Warner.

Parking on the St. Thomas Campus will be available in the parking lot of the Reichhold Center for the Arts. Shuttle service will be provided to accommodate persons parking at Reichhold Center, the Administration and Conference Center (ACC), and the upper campus.

WSTA 1340 AM will broadcast live from the St. Thomas commencement ceremony. DaVybe 107.9 FM will broadcast the ceremony on St. Croix. WUVI 97.3 FM will simulcast DaVybe’s stream online for St. Croix’s commencement. WTJX will live stream both commencement ceremonies, which can be seen on the WTJX’s Facebook Stream – https://www.facebook.com/wtjx/ or on UVI’s Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/UVI.edu/
