The 18th Virgin Islands Board of Education reminds the Virgin Islands (VIBE) public that April 13 marks exactly one week until the deadline for applying for the higher education loans and/or grants administered by the agency.
“April 20, 2018 marks the end of the loan/scholarship application process as administered by the VIBE,” said Chairperson Terrence T. Joseph. “Due to the twin hurricanes that devastated both islands and other factors beyond our control, we experienced some delays in getting the checks to our students in the last cycle. We are being extremely diligent and meticulous in our preparation to ensure a far better outcome this year. However, our students must do their part, as well.”
Students or parents can either come into the VIBE offices and pick up an application or go to the website and fill out the application there. The offices are located at No. 6 King Street in Christiansted, St. Croix and at No. 60B, 61 &62 Dronningens Gade in St. Thomas. The website address is www.myviboe.com . Should anyone need further information, they may contact the VIBE at either 340-774-4546 or 340-772-4144.
“Last year, over a thousand students applied for financial assistance,” said Joseph. “Even with the forced exodus of some of our students, we anticipate at least as many applications. We hope to help as many students as fiscally possible,” he said.
