A St. Croix man was killed just after midnight Saturday in a shooting in Christiansted’s Water Gut area, the V.I. Police Department reported.
The victim was identified as 24-year-old Alex Gonzalez, who succumbed to injuries sustained from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was identified by a family member.
According to police, a call came into 911 Emergency Call Center at approximately 12:10a.m. Saturday. The caller reported gunshots in the Water Gut area.
Arriving at the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying in the parking lot in the Ruby M.Rouse Housing Community. Emergency medical technicians made numerous attempts to resuscitate the individual, the police said, but without success.
This incident is under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
