Single-Car Accident Leaves One Dead

A single-car traffic accident Wednesday afternoon took the life of 57-year-old Kerone Hazelwood-Pryce, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at about 2:25 p.m. Wednesday the 911 emergency call center reported a collision going down to the Container Port Road, off the Melvin H. Evans Highway. Officers from the Traffic Division responded and did a preliminary investigation.

Their investigation revealed that Hazelwood-Pryce was driving a Ford Ranger pickup truck, traveling behind a fuel truck on the container port road. As the fuel truck slowed down to make a turn, the Ford pickup truck made what police said was “a screeching sound” and then crashed into a utility pole.

Hazelwood-Pryve was taken to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries sustained from the impact. She was identified by next of kin, police said.
