University of the Virgin Islands – St. Thomas Campus

UVI Closes for Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday UVI will be closed on Jan. 15 to commemorate the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. All administrative offices and classes will resume at their normal hours on Tuesday, Jan 16.

SGA Accepting Applications for 2018-2019 Miss UVI Ambassadorial Competition The Student Government Association Queens Committee on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix seeks female students to vie for the title of the 2018-2019 Miss University of the Virgin Islands. Applications are available and can be picked up at the Student Government Association Office and Student Activities Office on the St. Croix and St. Thomas Campus.

The deadline for submitting applications is Jan. 23.

Afternoon on the Green 2018 Save the Date for the 29th annual Afternoon on the Green, which will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 25.

The Afternoon on the Green is the university’s annual “friend raiser,” when the community comes together for live music, delicious food and family fun. This year’s theme is “Relief and Recovery on the Green for 2018.”

Mark the calendar for Afternoon on the Green 2018 on the Herman E. Moore Golf Course on UVI’s St. Thomas Campus.

The Office of Students Activities – St. Croix seeks Candidates for First Miss Incredible Competition The University of the Virgin Islands’ Office of Student Activities announces and invites interested females to vie for the first Miss Incredible Competition on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Applications are available and can be picked up at the Office of Student Activities. The application deadline is Friday, Jan. 27. Similar to Mr. Incredible, Miss Incredible was created to provide more female students leadership opportunities and to empower young women at the university.

The first Miss Incredible contest, a university-based fun initiative, will allow female contestants a chance to develop leadership skills, confidence and networking skills. The show will include modeling segments where grooming and poise are measured. The show will also feature various segments such as creative introduction, business wear, talent, 70s wear, a question and answer, and “best break up line.”

The winner will be awarded a $500 prize, and first runner-up will receive a $200 prize. Awards will also be presented for Miss Intellect, Best Business Wear, Best Performing Talent, Miss Popularity and the People’s Choice Award.
