Remaining St. Croix Elementary Schools to Open Nov. 6; Information Meetings Scheduled for Parents Nov. 3

The Office of the Insular Superintendent – St. Croix District has announced the reopening on Monday, Nov. 6, of the remaining six elementary schools.

The Ricardo Richards Elementary School (RRES) will be placed on a split session schedule with the Lew Muckle Elementary School at the RRES campus in Barren Spot. Ricardo Richards students will report for the morning session from 7:30-11:30 a.m. and students of Lew Muckle Elementary School will attend the afternoon session from 12:30-4:30 p.m.

The Claude O. Markoe Elementary School (COMS) and the Alexander Henderson Elementary School will assume a split session schedule at the COMS campus. Claude O. Markoe students will report for the morning session and Alexander Henderson for the afternoon session at the aforementioned times.

The Eulalie Rivera Elementary School will be on split session with the St. Croix Educational Complex (SCEC) and simultaneously with the Arthur Richards Junior High School at the SCEC campus. Eulalie Rivera students will be housed on the first floor and the Arthur Richards students on the second floor of classrooms, both a part of the afternoon session.

Lastly, the Alfredo Andrews Elementary School will be on split session with the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC), opposite of the St. Croix Educational Complex. CTEC students will report for the morning session, aligned with the high school schedules; students of the Alfredo Andrews Elementary School will attend the afternoon session.

Buses will begin pick-up of morning session students at 6:30 a.m. and afternoon session students at 11 a.m. Additional pick-up points have been established for students living in the immediate areas of their original school site. Those additional pick-up points for afternoon session students are in front the Lew Muckle Elementary, Alexander Henderson Elementary and Eulalie Rivera Elementary schools. The pick-up point added for the Alfredo Andrews Elementary School will be opposite from the school at the shanty nearby the Candido Guadeloupe Terrace Housing Community.

Students will be served breakfast and hot lunches throughout the course of the day.

In an effort to keep the community informed, St. Croix District Superintendent Colleen Mae Williams and her leadership team have scheduled a general meeting for parents of students attending all schools slated to open on Nov. 6. The meeting will take place at 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3, in the St. Croix Educational Complex cafeteria.

Additionally, the Claude O. Markoe Elementary School will host its parent meeting at 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 3, and following, the Alexander Henderson Elementary School will host its parent meeting at 10:30 a.m. – both in the COMS school cafeteria.
