On Saturday, Oct. 28,  Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center (JFL) began the transition of several of its medical units to the Virgin Islands Cardiac Center (VICC). As a result of the passing of hurricanes Irma and Maria, it will be necessary for JFL to move to the Western Shelter Systems later this year. In preparation for this move, the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical unit and Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) units were relocated to the VICC this past weekend.

There will be a few changes to ensure a smooth transition to the VICC; the community is asked to be mindful of those changes and all directions. Visiting hours for the PCU, Medical and Med/Surg units will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the number of family support visitors within patient rooms will be limited.

All of JFL’s other services, including the Emergency Department (ED), remain in their existing locations. JFL is fully operational, and continues to deliver quality healthcare for its patients and residents of the St. Croix community.
