Yacht Club Postpones Regatta Until March

The St. Croix Yacht Club has rescheduled its 25th International Regatta until early March, allowing more time for the island and the club to recover from Hurricane Maria.

Karen Stanton, the club’s Commodore, announced Wednesday that the regatta, originally set for Nov. 10 through 12, is now slated for March 9 through 11.

The regatta draws competitive sailors from across the USVI, the British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, all of which suffered heavy damage in September from a pair of category 5 urricanes, Irma and Maria. Events tha t are part of the regatta include an Optimist Clinic, Captain Nick’s Race, and two days of international regatta racing in the Buck Island channel.

The SCYC welcomes the public and will feature nightly entertainment along with a special galley menu for all ages.
