WTJX-TV Channel 12, the V.I. Public Broadcasting System channel, started a new bi-monthly show Thursday, giving the Delegate to Congress a highly visible platform to talk to V.I. residents.

The show, “The Washington Report with Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett,” first aired at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31.

The show “will be a bi-monthly show created to educate and inform my Congressional District on current issues that directly affect the Virgin Islands community,” Plaskett said in a news release.

The show’s guests will range from political leaders to community activists. The first guest scheduled was Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico Jennifer Gonzalez-Colon.

“Constituents will be able to email questions to the show and have them answered on future shows by emailing AskStacey@mail.house.gov,” Plaskett said.

The half-hour program’s format will consist of an extended one-on-one interview with Plaskett and other Congressional members, both Democratic and Republican, along with other political commentators.

Plaskett’s office said the show also will feature in-depth examinations of facts behind political and general news stories that affect the Virgin Islands, as well as feature reports centering on socioeconomic issues affecting the people of the Virgin Islands. The show will also feature general news stories of note that occurred the previous week.
