Woman Charged with Attempted Murder

A woman was arrested Friday evening and charged with second-degree attempted murder stemming from an incident that occurred May 22, according to the V.I. Police Department.

According to police the suspect, 33-year-old Tasha A.Matthews, was arrested at about 7:20 p.m. Friday pursuant to an arrest warrant by a Superior Court Magistrate.

Police said that at 11:28 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a a stabbing at Estate Coble in Fredericksted.

Police allege that Matthews was engaging in an act of prostitution with her adult male client and refused to perform a specific sexual act. The male began to verbally argue with Matthews and the argument turned into a physical altercation police said, resulting in the man sustaining several stab wounds, which required surgery.

Bail for Matthews were set at $75,000 and she was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility.
