Burglar Strikes While Resident Sleeps

A man who nodded off while watching television late Tuesday or early Wednesday awoke in the morning to find that his home had been burglarized and his vehicle was gone.

According to the V.I. Police Department, officers were dispatched at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday to the home on Queen Cross Street in Christiansted, where they met with the resident.

He told police he had fallen asleep while watching television in the living room. When he awoke in the morning, he said, he discovered an intruder had entered his home and burglarized it. He also said \his vehicle keys were missing from the living room table.

The vehicle, a red 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 two-door pickup truck with a silver tool box in the rear cab, was missing. the vehicle’s license plate number is CFE-837.

Police said they have no suspects in the case. The victim was not injured. The VIPD urged anyone with information about the incident or who say the red Dodge Ram pickup, license number CFE-837, to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau Tip Line at 340-778-4550, the CIB at 340-778 2211, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
