Armed Robber Thwarted at Carambola

An armed man attempted to rob the office of the Carambola Beach Resort Hotel Thursday morning but was driven off by employees, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to the police, at about 11:41 a.m. Thursday officers were dispatched to the hotel in Estate Davis Bay. At the scene, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau talked with a Carambola employee who told them she had been in the office speaking with a male employee, when a man wearing a mask came in the office with what appears to be a firearm. He demanded money.

The male employee got into a struggle with the suspect. The female employee locked herself in the office and called 911. Another employee came and the suspect fled the area on foot.
No one was injured in the incident and no money or items were taken from the resort, police said.
