Special Olympics U.S.V.I. Seeks Volunteers, Donations to Bring Area Games to Fruition in the Fall

The Special Olympics U.S.V.I. reminds the public that it was forced to cancel the Area Games on St. Thomas. Apologizing to its friends, volunteer and Special Olympics athletes, the organization explains that it did not have enough committed volunteers to stage the event that was originally scheduled for May 6. Therefore, it has decided to wait until fall 2017 to hold the games in hopes of securing more volunteers and donations to support them.

The Special Olympics Board has scheduled a general meeting for 10 a.m. on July 15 at the Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands, Suite 313, Havensight. At this meeting, people will be able to sign up as volunteers. Also, individuals can contact the organization via telephone to inform it on how the person and/or a group would contribute to assist in the Special Olympics Area Games.

If there are any questions or concerns regarding this meeting, contact 776-4303 and leave a message for the Special Olympics Board, or post a message on its Facebook page: Special Olympics U.S. Virgin Islands.
