Man Killed in Barren Spot Shooting

At least one gunman opened fire on a vehicle at about noon Friday in Barren Spot, leaving one man dead, the V.I. Police reported.

The name of the victim was not released by police. It was the seventh homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 19th in the territory.

According to police, at 12:36 p.m. Friday, the 911 emergency call center received a report of shots fired in the Barren Spot area. At the scene, responding officers made contact with a male individual who appeared to have lacerations about the body and was offered medical assistance.

The man, whose name was not released by police, told the officers he was riding on the passenger side driving with a friend in the Barren Spot area when he heard shots fired. The driver lost control and the vehicle overturned overturned.

A male was found lying on his back behind the steering wheel on the driver’s side.

The Emergency Medical Technicians and St. Croix Rescue Paramedics arrived on the scene and confirmed there were no vital signs of the male individual behind of the steering wheel.

The medical attendants pronounced the victim dead on the scene from his gunshot wounds. The victim on the passenger side was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for further examination.

  1. These are your friends and family committing the crime; Focus on them, instead of pointing the finger elsewhere. Everyone knows all of the people who are selling drugs out of their homes. Why are they not arrested? Thank God for the Feds! They have moved into downtown Christiansted now. Expect some real changes. As usual, Crucians, VIPD, and administration, warn your family and friends!
