Members of the Ground Strokes Tennis Club triumphed at the FirstBank Junior Tennis Tournament in the British Virgin Islands the weekend of March 31 to April 1.
D’avian Lewis-Flynn, 12, Malachi Robinson, 13, and Dwayna Byrde, 14, travelled to Tortola, BVI, to compete in the tournament.
Lewis-Flynn, a seventh grader at Good Hope Country Day School, took home first place in both the Girls 12 and under as well as Girls 14 and under age brackets.
Robinson, an eighth grader at the Arthur Richards Junior High School, took home first place in the Boys 14 and under bracket.
Byrde, a ninth grader at The St. Croix Educational Complex, took home second place in the Girls 14 and under bracket.
Ground Strokes Tennis Club Inc. is a non-profit organization formed to make tennis available to every young person who wants to play, while teaching in a fun, learning environment and stressing the importance of good sportsmanship and fair play.
