A 55-year-old Fredensborg man, Jose Saez Rosario, was stabbed to death Friday evening in Christiansted, and a suspect, 46-year-old Edwardo D. Garcia Jr., turned himself in to police and was arrested, according to the V.I. Police.
It was the fifth homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 12th in the territory.
At 9:45 p.m. Friday the 911 Call Center received a call for a stabbing in old Fredensborg. At the scene officers discovered an injured man lying on the ground. The man, who was later identified as Rosario by family, was taken to Juan F. Luis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to police, preliminary investigation revealed that both men had been feuding over a broken windshield. They got into a verbal altercation, one man with a beer bottle and the other with a knife. A struggle ensued and the suspect reportedly stabbed the victim in the neck area and fled the area.
Garcia turned himself in at the Wilbur A. Francis Command in Frederiksted.
Garcia was charged with second-degree murder and remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advice of right hearing.
