Assault Reported in Frenchtown

A man was admitted to the Schneider Regional Medical Center Tuesday night after he was assaulted by an unknown man in Frenchtown, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at 9:13 p.m. Tuesday the 911 center received a report that a man was lying on the ground, bleeding from the back of his head, in the vicinity of Bella Blu in Frenchtown.

Officers the scene, officers found a white male who was bleeding from his face and back of his head. He was transported to the hospital via ambulance for treatment for several lacerations to his face and one to the back of his head, which caused him to be admitted for further treatment.

According to a witness on the scene, an unknown male suspect punched the victim from behind, causing him to fall. The victim hit the back of his head against a wall. the witness said the suspect then fled the area in an unknown direction.

This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police urged anyone with information about the the incident to contact the CIB at 340-774-2211 ext. 5579 and 5557, 911, or the anonymous tip service, Crimestoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
