Police Arrest Domestic Violence Suspect

The V.I. Police Department on Wednesday arrested 33-year-old Jamal Gould at La Reine Village in Grove Place, charging him in the assault/domestic violence of his girlfriend.

According to police, at 7:05 p.m. members from the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operations Team located Gould in the housing complex and arrested him, charging him with third-degree assault/domestic violence.

According to police, on March 1 Gould assaulted his girlfriend by punching her several times in the face, kicking her several times while she was on the floor and slamming her head on the floor. She sustained injury to the forehead, the report said.

St. Croix Police Chief Winsbut McFarlande said he has seen a rise in domestic violence and urged victims, “regardless of gender” to avoid physical confrontation during misunderstandings.

“The VIPD is actively pursuing all cases pertaining to domestic violence,” the chief said, saying victims can call the VIPD Domestic Unit at 340-778-2211 or the Victims’ Advocates office at 340-643-0295.

Gould’s bail was set at $25,000. Unable to post bail he was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center.
