Pablo Bermudez-Velez, also known as “Pablé,” of Peter’s Rest, Christiansted, died on Jan. 4 at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center. He was 88 years old.
He is survived by wife, Eva Belardo-Acevedo; daughters: Mireya Bermudez, Georgina Songy and Eva “Evita” Bermudez-Soto; sons: Wilfredo, Pablo “Chichi” Jr., Jose “Holl,” Venerando “Caco” and Gustavo Bermudez; and grandchildren: Luz Eneida Bermudez, Wilfredo “Buyo” Jr., Frankie, Margie, Pablo III, Jose “Joey” Jr., John Derek, Juan Gabriel, Paul Michael, Carmen “Eli” Elizabeth, Norma Iris, Roselyn, Nakisha Bermudez, Lisandra Simons-Irizarry, Alexis Estien, Waleshka Estien, Julio Estrada, Gustavo, Jr., Masika, Ama Bermudez, Damara Ramos, Chelsea and Paul Songy, Menelio Jr., Jonathan, Joel and Joshua Soto.
He is also survived by sister, Georgina Bermudez; brothers: Venerando “Verano,” Eulogio “Tito,” German “Gin,” Abraham Bermudez and Angel Luis “Guigui” Bermudez; daughters-in-law: Eneida Simons-Bermudez, Angelita “Angie” Velazquez-Bermudez, Mercedes Navarro and Digna “Emmy” Alvarez; sons-in-law: Jose “Pepe” Rivera and Bert Songy; as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts and uncles too numerous to mention.
Other survivors include special friends: Mr. Galloway, the Nelthrop family, the Murray family, the Ledesma family, the Gonzalez family, Tony Placket, Julio Encarnacion, Cheo Becerril, Gerardo Becerril, the “Cardo” Graham family, Sylvester “Blinky” McIntosh, Felipe Fuentes, Daniel Velazquez, Millin, Carmelo Silva, Don Gregorio Ramos and family, the Songy family in Louisiana, the Nieves family (Federiksted), the Garcia family, the Camacho family, the Belardo family and the Webster family; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the James Memorial Funeral Home, La Grande Princesse.
The second viewing will be held at 10 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Christiansted. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
