Man Wanted in Florida Arrested at St. Croix Airport

A St. Croix resident was arrested Sunday at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport when federal agents checking his records learned he was wanted for parole violation in Florida, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The VIPD reported Tuesday that 31-year-old Everick G.A. Phillip of Mount Pleasant was arrested while attempting to depart St. Croix for Puerto Rico.

According to the police report, Immigration Customs Enforcement checked the National Crime Information Center database and learned Phillip was wanted in Orange County, Fla., on a warrant for parole violation.

He was arrested and detained pending an advice of rights hearing and a later scheduled extradition hearing.

The NCIC assists law enforcement agencies with documented criminal information regionally and nationally. According to the VIPD, the technology has been instrumental for the department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Homicide Task Force make more arrest in many of the homicides when suspects leave the territory.
