Tourism Department Embraces Holiday Spirit, Invites Public to Community Events

The V.I. Department of Tourism (DOT) is spreading holiday cheer and welcomes the public to participate in community events throughout the territory.

“As the year comes to an end, we have a lot to be thankful for, and these events are a small gesture to show how grateful we are for the community’s support. Tourism is ‘All of Us,’ and we can’t promote our islands without the support of our people, as they are our greatest ambassadors and motivators. As Virgin Islanders, we look forward to the holiday season, as it is an integral part of our culture, so we will celebrate with local treats and entertainment,” said Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson Doty.

Holiday events will feature local entertainment; a sampling of local events are scheduled as follows:

December 9 – St. Thomas

· 9 a.m. to Noon — Emancipation Garden Tree Decorating w/ EBO Owls and Steel Orchestra

· 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. — Thank You Holiday Mixer

December 16 – St Croix

· 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. — Community Holiday Giveback in collaboration with FEDA Sunset Jazz at Buddhoe Park

December 23 – St. John

· 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — “Tourism Is All of Us” Holiday Community Appreciation Day

In addition to events above, the department will also host their annual gift project on St. Croix and St. Thomas this month.
