DEP to Hold Workshop for All Pesticides Applicators

The Division of Environmental Protection (DEP) will host workshops throughout the territory for all pesticides applicators. The workshops will provide an opportunity for pesticide applicators to learn more about federal and local regulatory laws as well as rules and regulations that govern their respective industries, according to a press release issued Friday by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR).

The workshop sponsored and presented by DPNR will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the DPNR Conference Room at the Cyril E. King Airport Terminal on St. Thomas. The workshop will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the DPNR Conference Room at Estate Mars Hill on St. Croix.

“I strongly encourage all pesticide applicators that are concerned about compliance rules and requirements to come out and get pertinent information from the workshops,” said Commissioner Dawn L. Henry. “Knowing the regulatory laws that govern your business industry and requirements to remain in compliance is always cheaper than enforcement and better for the environment.”

For more information on the workshops, call Leslie V. Leonard, program manager of the Pesticide Program at 774-3320, ext. 5188 on St. Thomas.
