DOH, Seventh-day Adventists Host Children’s Health Expo

Health experts present a mental health class for young men.The V.I. Department of Health (VIDOH) collaborated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, located in Peter’s Rest on St. Croix, to provide health education to over 160 children. The Children’s Health Expo was held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20. The DOH’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Mental Health, Chronic Disease, and Immunization Programs presented educational events about to personal hygiene, the maintenance of good mental health, the prevention of chronic disease and Zika prevention tips.

These classes were provided to all the children in attendance. Free flu vaccinations were also provided during the Children’s Health Expo. Additionally, the DOH gave over 600 items to the children, to include 78 backpacks, 28 lunch kits, 150 coloring books, 150 pencils, 160 hand sanitizers and 50 packs of crayons.
