Health Department Resumes Ambulance Service on St. Croix

The Department of Health (DOH) has resumed ambulance service on St. Croix, effective 11 a.m., Oct. 21, today, after completing necessary repairs to the ambulance unit, according to a press release issued by DOH on Friday, Oct. 21.

In addition to the DOH ambulance, the USVI National Guard is collaborating with the DOH to respond to emergency calls. In an order approved by Acting Governor Osbert Potter, the USVI National Guard will supply a tactical ambulance, driver and medical specialist to respond to overflow calls. Two DOH EMTs will accompany the National Guard ambulance to respond to any emergency calls. This collaboration will provide two ambulances to serve the St. Croix district.

The remanufactured ambulance that was recently acquired by DOH is awaiting retrofitting for the addition of running boards and steps. Upon completion of these modifications the unit will be added to the fleet.

Commissioner Davis thanked the USVI National Guard for their critical support.
