VIWMA and Water Line Rehab Project Are Replacing Wastewater Lines

The V.I. Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises residents and business of the Company Street area of St. Croix that it has begun work to install a new manhole and to replace a wastewater line that was damaged during the Water and Power Authority’s (WAPA’s) St. Croix Christiansted Water Line Rehabilitation Project. VIWMA will replace 120 feet of the main gravity line and install a new manhole within the area from Company Street near Joe Tailors Building to Prince Street.
The project is being performed by VIWMA’s in-house operations team with the assistance of VI Paving and the V.I. Department of Public Works. Work began August 29, according to a press release issued on Thursday by VIWMA.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area when possible and to pay attention to caution devices in the project area. VIWMA will continue to work along with WAPA and its partners to finalize repairs and restore the affected area as soon as possible.
