A person walking a dog on Mahogany Road near Frederiksted on Thursday made a disturbing find that the V.I. Police confirmed was a human body in an advanced stage of decomposition.
According to police, officers responded to a report made at approximately 4 p.m. by a citizen who said they smelled a strong odor in the area while walking their dog and subsequently identified what appeared to be a body.
The body’s discovery is an active investigation, police said. The cause of death could not be determined until examined by the Medical Examiner.
