Canegata Park Gets Makeover

The David C. Canegata Baseball Park has gotten a thorough makeover, according to the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation.

The roof over the bleachers was completely refurbished, metal plaques were welded on the bleachers’ metal floor and painted. Two new metal rolling doors were installed and all the structures painted. The baseball field was modified to meet Little League Baseball requirements, rules and regulations, according to the department. And the park’s lighting also was refurbished.

"We made it!" Sports, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Pedro Cruz said in a statement.

The park is now ready for the Little League Baseball Regional Caribbean Tournament, he said, thanking Gov. Kenneth Mapp and the Public Finance Authority for helping to make it happen.
