Man Injured by Gunshot in Estate Thomas

A man who had just pulled up at a relative’s house was injured Thursday when a stranger approached him with a gun and the two men fought, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at 1 p.m. Thursday officers were called to the Schneider Regional Medical Center, where a man was being treated in the emergency room for a gunshot wound.

The man, whose name was not released by police, told officers that as he pulled up at a relative’s residence in Estate Thomas he saw a black man approaching him with a firearm in his hand. the victim said a scuffled ensued when he tried to grab for the gun and during the scuffle he was shot. The man said after the shot was fired the suspect ran in an unknown direction.

The victim told officers he drove himself to the hospital, where he was treated for a single gunshot wound to his upper left thigh.

Police urged anyone with information about the case to contact the Investigation Bureau at 340-774- 2211 extensions 5617 and 5554, or the 911 call center or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stopper V.I., at 1-800-222-8477.
