Two 18-year-old men were killed Sunday and four others injured in a drive-by shooting in the Altona Lagoon area, the second drive-by shooting on St. Croix in as many nights.
The two deaths were the eighth and ninth homicides on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, and bring the territory’s homicide total to 31 for the year.
Sunday’s victims were identified as 18-year-olds Malik Benjamin and Yahfari Brodhurst.
According to police, officers from C Command Unit in Christiansted responded at 11:09 p.m. Sunday to a dispatch from the 911 call center reporting shots being fired in the Altona Lagoon area.
According the the preliminary investigation a party was taking place on at the lagoon when an unknown vehicle drove by and starting shooting. Four individuals were injured by the shots.
The officers also found two lifeless victims, Benjamin and Brodhurst, with multiple gunshots wounds to their bodies.
Saturday, a man was killed and a teen injured in a drive-by shooting in the Clifton Hill area.
