DHS State Pharmaceutical Assistance Program Helps Seniors With Drug Costs

Many who are without medical insurance and have a chronic illness simply cannot afford to pay for medicine from their monthly income. The Pharmaceutical Assistance Program (PAP) at the V.I. Department of Human Services (DHS) is assisting seniors with paying for the cost of prescription drugs. If a person is 60 years or older and struggling to pay for prescription drugs, call or visit the DHS to receive help with the cost.
These are necessary to get the assistance:
• A doctor’s certificate with the type of medication
• Proof of income (single individuals with incomes up to $18,000 and married couples with incomes up to $30,000 are eligible)
• The cost of the medications
“Tell a friend, bring a friend” to PAP to assist with paying for medicine.
On St. Thomas go to 1303 Knud Hansen Complex (call 774-5265, ext.4235). On St. Croix go to 3011 Golden Rock (call 773-2323, ext.202).
