A girl identified by the V.I. Police Department as 8-year-old Jah-Marie Dimmer drowned Saturday while attending a birthday party in Christiansted, the police reported.
According to the report, officers from the C Command Unit in Christiansted were dispatched to the King Christian Hotel at 11:17 a.m. Arriving at the scene, they found CPR was administered to the girl.
The officers also performed CPR until the ambulance arrived and transported the girl to the Juan F. Luis Hospital. Further attempts were made to revive her, police said, but she was pronounced dead at 12:04 pm.
According to the preliminary investigation, the victim was attending a birthday party for one of her friends at the King Christian Hotel in Christiansted, when a minor saw the victim’s body at the bottom of the end of the pool. Bystanders pulled her from the pool and began performing CPR. The girl’s family was immediately notified, according to police.
