Command Sgt. Maj. Eugene Farrell Named Head of 210th Regiment, Regional Training Institute

Command Sgt. Maj. Eugene Farrell assumed responsibility of the 210th Regiment, Regional Training Institute (RTI), Virgin Islands National Guard (VING) during a ceremony held June 4 at the VING’s Estate Bethlehem Military Compound on St. Croix.
The ceremony was held during VING’s Operation Forward Guardian IV training exercise and officiated by Brig. Gen. Deborah Y. Howell, adjutant general of VING.
Farrell accepted the leadership position after receiving the unit’s guidon from Howell during the change of responsibly ceremony.
"The 210th RTI has an important mission. The commandant is responsible for ensuring trained and ready troops at all times. I take that mission seriously." said Howell. "Today I have displayed the confidence that I have in CSM Farrell to take this organization to still a higher level."
Howell told the unit members of the 210th RTI to continue leading the charge. "Thank you for what you do. You are small in number, but the job is the biggest that we have. So go forth and do good things," said Howell.
In his remarks, Farrell addressed his unit accepting responsibility to carry out Howell’s directive. "We train all. Those are our watch words," he said. "Based on what TAG (the adjutant general) said, I accept the responsibility to lead you into the future, and we are going to do great things."

Biography – Command Sergeant Major Eugene D. Farrell
CSM Eugene Farrell was born and raised on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. He is a 1983 graduate of Saints Peter and Paul High School. Upon graduation, Farrell attended the College of the Virgin Islands for one year, but he needed a challenge. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 29, 1984. In 1993, after his active duty tour, he enlisted in the V.I. National Guard. CSM Farrell serves as the senior policy advisor on justice, law enforcement, security and emergency operations in the Mapp/Potter Administration.
