St. Croix Central High School will be closed on Thursday and Friday due to an equipment failure that has affected electricity in major portions of the school, according to the Education Department.
Students were released at 1 p.m. Wednesday when a transformer at the school blew out.
An appropriate replacement has been ordered from off-island and is being shipped to the school.
All Virgin Islands’ public schools will be closed on Monday in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
