Gloria McGivney Dies at 95

Gloria McGivney The family of Gloria McGivney are deeply saddened to announce her passing at the age of 95.
Ms. McGivney graduated from Julia Richman High School for girls in N.Y.C. and N.Y.C. College. She then went to Lincoln School for Nursing (N.Y.C.) where she received her RN and PHN in nursing. Ms. McGivney worked 42 years in nursing at ROFAY Nursing Home in N.Y.C. and the Virgin Islands Department of Health on St. Croix.
Ms. McGivney is preceded in death by her parents: Alma and Frank Joseph; husband, Alwyn B. McGivney on Feb. 21, 2010; nephew and niece: Phillip and Lena Stamps; five brothers and sisters-in-law: George Joseph, Edgar and Ada Joseph , Leyale and Gertrude Joseph, Olga and Prue Joseph, Dario and Olga Joseph, and Theodore and Lilah Joseph; and nephew, Martin Julius Joseph.
Families left to mourn include nephew and his wife, Leon and Patricia Stamps; nieces and their husbands: Yvonne and James Sliney, Diane and Richard Linsard, and Loretta and Raymond Bauer; the families of Isabel and Hugh P. Watts, Henry and Rachel Watts, St. Clair and Margaret Watts, Evans and Monica, Sandra Yvonne Pena and family, Montrose Watts, Raydiance Watts-Clarke, Tatyana Josiah and Kitzman Josiah Jr.; dear friends: Lilian Foster, Johanna Williams (deceased), Eleanor Sealey, Palmyra Benjamin, Harriet Reese, Anthony Mafes and family, Randal Randaljah, Director Angela Christian and staff and Senior Citizens of Richmond Center.
The family would like to thank the director, staff and seniors of Health and Human Services for their continued care. The family of Gloria McGivney would like to rest quietly after her internment. They would also like to thank you for your years of love, support and kindness expressed during our time of bereavement.
A viewing will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, at Divine Funeral Service Chapel. A second viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Frederiksted. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.

    I am saddened to learn of that death if Mrs. Gloria McGivney. She was my godmother and a dear friend of my aunt Lula Davis. I had her on my mind for some time and decided to google her name. I’m sorry we didn’t keep in touch better.
