Woman Raped at Bus Stop

A woman was raped at about 9 a.m. while she waited for a bus on St. Croix, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The victim told police she had been sitting at the bus stop adjacent to Amigo’s Gas Station when she was approached by a man – described in the report as a "bum/homeless man."

The woman, interviewed by police while she was being treated at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital, said the man assaulted her, pinned her down and raped her at the bus stop.

The woman said she was familiar with the man that attacked her and provided the officers with information as to where he might be located.

The incident is under investigation.
