Mapp Names Bollentini, Jones to Government Posts

Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp has named Nicole Bollentini to be the Office of the Governor’s next director of communications. Bollentini’s appointment is effective Thursday, Jan. 7. She replaces Kimberly Jones, who has been appointed deputy commissioner of health. Jones had served as the Government House chief spokesperson during the first year of the Mapp/Potter administration, according to a press release issued on Tuesday by the Office of the Governor.
Nicole Bollentini has extensive credentials as an award-winning journalist and a senior staff member at the Virgin Islands Legislature. Until recently, she was chief of staff for Senator-At-Large Almando “Rocky” Liburd. Her past service includes communications director for former Senate President Shawn Michael-Malone and public affairs/policy specialist for former Sen. Adlah “Foncie” Donastorg.
Mapp expressed his confidence that Bollentini “brings the experience and talent to this important staff position required to maintain close communication among the administration, the people of the territory and the news media.” He also said, “Ms. Bollentini fully appreciates the need for timely and accurate information dissemination, given the number of ambitious public policy and project initiatives forthcoming during this administration.”
Kimberly Jones, a licensed practical nurse with credentials in behavioral health, said her focus as deputy commissioner of health will be health promotion, prevention and education. Prior to joining the administration, she had worked at the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital as a peritoneal dialysis nurse. Jones said she looks forward to this opportunity to apply her experience in health care.
