The family of Julie Monique Edney, affectionately known as Nicky, has announced her untimely death on Dec. 13. She was born on Dec. 14, 1969.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Leova L.B. Edney; and daughter, Keira Edwards.
She is survived by her father, Burton Edney Sr.; daughters: Jahmoya and Jenelle Edwards; son, Jahleem Edwards; grandson, Jayden Morales; son-in-law, Noel Morales; sister, Jamoy Edney-Noel; sister-in-law, Joann Berry-Edney; brothers: Burton Edney Jr. and Jorion Edney; brother-in-law, Kelvin Noel; and aunts: Christina Benjamin-Serieux, Jeslyn Benjamin, Elisa Hanson- Linton, Claudette Edney-King, Claudette Schuster-Benjamin, Corine Edney-Williams, Velma Edney and Lurene Benjamin (deceased); and uncles: Chester Benjamin Sr., Heartsille Benjamin II, Heartsille Benjamin III, Denver Serieux, Bernard, Rodney, Ursille Sr. (deceased), Alfred and Orville Edney;
She is also survived by nieces: Jenea Walters, Jeana Edney and Keiann Johnson; nephew, Jevin Noel; and cousins: Tricia, Louann, Pennisha, Toi, Zoryah, Brithney, Deshea, Dylon, Ronysha, Roshae, Kema, Brandon, Jordan, Zorida, Rosille, Malik, Heartsille Jr. “Rocky,” Zion, Kyron, Jeni, Anthony, Petra, Monet , Malique, Monique, Vashaun, Chester Jr. “Ike,” Kiron, Kei’Arah, Ka’leigha, Malik, Cordell, Joseph, Dwayne, Darnicia, Arianna, Arishka, Julissa, Corissa, Kendall, Kenicua, Erron, Latwayne, Jah’Nessa, Joh’rissa, Jeh’Neyja, Troy, Darian, Daria, TJ and Jannae.
Other survivors include special friends: Alfredo ”Jahba” Edwards, Luis “Papito” Cuencas, Yvette Gordon, Ena Hansen, Monica Andrew, Eustace Brown, Neal Davis, Kaysten Stevens, Cherise Jarvis, Sen. Samuel Sanes, James Mcnamara, Mr. Morton, Thomas “Fat Boy” Williams, Ruth Barton, Norton Williams and the entire 31st Legislature of the Virgin Islands, the Hansen family, the Benjamin family and many more too numerous to mention.
The family requests that attendees wear festive colors, preferably turquoise or blue.
A viewing and tributes will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, at Lord God of Sabbath Lutheran Church, Christiansted. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
