Old Castle Coakley Man Faces Firearm Charge

V.I. Police officers arrested Leon Nisbett, 39 of Old Castle Coakley, early Saturday and charged him with unauthorized possession of a firearm.

According to the police report, at 5:59 a.m. Saturday an officer on patrol noticed a vehicle that was stopped along the roadside of the eastbound passing lane of the Melvin H. Evans Highway, in the vicinity of Estate Diamond. Inspecting the vehicle, the officer discovered its operator sleeping soundly and the strong odor of marijuana present.

The vehicle’s operator was patted-down and a weapon was discovered in the right rear pocket of his pants. Police checked to ascertain if he possessed a firearm license and were not able to find such a record, police said.

Nisbett’s bail was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
